  1. Pag 27: point (ii)
    .
ii) If a paired data is analysed as though it involved independent samples, then result would be invalid but if independent are analysed as paired, then result would be valid! Why?

Hii all, I have analysed independent data as paired in Q.11 (Design 1) of IAI May 2012, past paper. But i got a different answer .i.e.confidence intervl (-16.40, 24.40) whereas true answer is (-17.94, 25.94). So is it valid??

The result (if you have the same number in each sample) would be meaningless though...

    Can u elaborate please?

No, because the samples were independent but you treated them as dependent.

But in course notes, it is given that it will valid. Can u explain (ii) note of page no. 27 of chapter 11.

IDk why it's written. It looks wrong to me because there are so many ways in which can you match the values in independent samples if you were to treat them as dependent.
In exam, you'll lose marks if you do this.

Ok . There may be a mistake or other reason. I will take care of the difference between two. Thankyou
