    Hi John,

You replied to Howard in 28th June thread explaining this inequality and invert.

Further we all are interested to understand in which cases where do we apply this approach.

Can it be asked by examiner to apply invert approach of inequality?

Or the other reason to apply it because approximation is not appropriate in less then 30 cases in binomial and Poisson both ?

Is any other discrete distribution also included in this approach or only Poisson and Binomial?

Any other thoughts and suggestions are most welcome

In the IFoA exams it has only been asked once and they made it very clear that we weren't to use a normal approximation.

I suppose you could do it for other discrete distributions but only the binomial and Poisson are given in the Core Reading and so only they will be tested.
