    Hi,

    For chapter 9, page 4, it shows nqxy = nqxy - npx * nqy ( with "2" falls on life X on the left hand side and "1" falls on life y on the right hand side).

    But when x=y,

    page 5 shows nqxx = nqxx - npx * nqx (with "2" falls on the first life x on the left hand side and "1" falls on the first life x on the right hand side too).Shouldnt "1" fall on the 2nd life x rather than the first life x according to the formula on page 4?

    Appreciate alot if someone can help.

    When x = y, it doesn't matter whether a 1 (or 2) falls on the first or second life because they are the same age and have the same mortality,
