Chapter 5: Forward Differential Equations

On page 23 of chapter 5, the solution says that we can determine the integration constant using the initial condition P_01 (0)=0.

Is this normally explicitly stated in the exam questions, or is this obvious from the question?

The second intial condition I can probably think of. However, the first one is bit tricky for me; does it matter whether the question states or not, in which state you are currently in?

I'm guessing not and both conditions you mentioned can be applied in general to any model, am I right?
