    (1) Can anybody please explain me the solution given for the past exam question given on page 13, of chapter 6.
The solution says "N has a type 2 negative binomial distribution with k = 3 and p = 0.9". My query is why N has a type 2 negative binomial distribution .How can i determine that a particular distribution has aType 1 or type 2 negative binomial distribution ?

There isn't a past exam question on page 13 of chapter 6.

But in general a type 1 negative binomial counts the number of trials up to and including the kth success.

A type 2 negative binomial counts the numebr of failures before the kth success.
