The following advice has been issued by the profession:

With effect from the 2008 examinations, the following calculators are permitted:

    Casio FX85ES
    Hewlett Packard HP9S
    Hewlett Packard HP 12C Platinum
    Sharp EL531 WB
    Texas Instruments BA II Plus

Does that mean we can use the any normal scientific calculators in the 2007 Sept exam?

I have been told so far that:
    * Calculators must be silent, have visual display only and be battery or solar operated.
    * Any stored data and /or stored program facilities must be cleared before the calculator is taken into the examination room.
    ... etc...

I am sitting the exam in Sydney, AUS, by the way.

    You are OK.

The discussion on the site relates to changes that impact Apr 08 onwards.

    yep, thanks.

it's a little annoying that i'll need to replace my calculator with one that's ... virtually the same. but oh well, i'll live :)

    Change to calcualtors allowed

Just in case you missed it the Casio has been changed from fx85MS to fx85ES.

Apologies - I pointed out to the Profession that the MS was no longer being made by Casio and so students will have trouble getting it.

At least the ES has the table function which helps with trial and error even if it doesn't do normal probabilities....
