CA3 for overseas students?

Hi,

Please could someone explain to me what the process is for writing the CA3 exam if you're an overseas student? It seems like we cannot currently complete this course unless we travel to the UK?? Utterly unfair?

The Profession have developed CA3Online - an online version of CA3 just like there's an online version of CA2. They've just run the second pilot online exam so they should be rolling it out fully later this year.

Check out actuaries.org.uk or contact the Practical Exams team (practicalexams@actuaries.org.uk; +441865268216) for more details.

Great news - thanks for the replies

Looks like I'll be sticking to the UK qualification :)

Does anyone know if it appears that the pass rates have improved or not since introducting this new format for CA3?

The Profession publishes the pass lists on the website just like the session-based exams. You can work out pass rates from these.

Why would they want to improve it? That would mean less fees income. And allow too many people to become actuaries. But qualified actuaries are in shortage in the UK? Yes. Confused now.

So in CA3 we need to communicate actuarial things to non-actuaries... but get actuaries marking it? Wow, that's clever. Confused again.
