    CP3 and PPD changes

In October 2016, the IFoA announced that whilst the new curriculum will take effect from 31 December 2018, a decision was taken to advance the launch of the Communication Practice exam (CP3) and the Personal and Professional Development scheme (PPD) to September 2017.

    What’s changing?

The current communications exam (CA3) will be replaced by a revised format exam CP3 and the current work based skills (WBS) will be replaced by personal and professional development (PPD).

Those who were previously exempt from WBS will be required to do PPD - this is a catch.
Also in terms of getting a Fellow to sign off a presentation: not everyone who had CA3 remaining to qualify necessarily have a job, or have a job where they do a presentation e.g. those who work contracts, or work in the more technical jobs, some may work as an actuary in a small company where there's no fellow to sign their presentation off, or even those who may no longer work in actuary but would like the qualification that was previously possible by exam passes alone. They've introduced this gate-keeper aspect to it now- this is yet another barrier to diversity created by the IFoA for this profession.

Perhaps more importantly, the IFoA have made a real shambles here for those like me who weren't subject to WBS:-
Until August 2018 we won't have to be assessed on any presentation at all. Why? As CP3 does not contain it and we won't be subject to PPD until August 2018.
After Sept 17 & April 18 CP3 then we have to get CP3 + PPD.

In response I simply ask how can it be an essential requirement to work in this profession and be conferred Fellowship to be assessed on a presentation when not everyone has to?
