What's the difference between the two? I came across a question asking us to explain the advantages and disadvantages of changing this from BM to NCD but my understanding is that they're both the same.

Read the Glossary definitions carefully and you should see the words 'and loaded' somewhere...
 
Oh, so NCD is just discounts but bonus malus has got + and -

No Claims Bonus will be given to you whenver you renew the policy, but No Claims Discount will be given to you only when you choose to renew. I think that's the key difference.
