Do we need to know the Pro forma of the balance of payments as given in the notes?

Yes, you do.

The Examiners frequently test your knowledge and understanding of the Balance of Payments by giving you a list of entries, which you need to allocate to the correct sub-account (Current, Capital and Financial) with the correct sign (plus or minus). With a bit of practice, these these questions should generally be reasonably straightforward.
