    Hi

I've taken a non-traditional route for a while and am now attempting a first actuarial exam in 6 years (last exams were the 100's). I've found that I prefer writing in pencil (clutch pencils) instead of pen. Does anyone know whether I'm allowed to do this in the actuarial exams?

    Tx!

    Better get used to Biros.

Pencil is NOT allowed in the exam. Don't use it even for graphs

I think its because it can readily be changed/erased and cause issues that way. Plus may need to photocopy it for example if you appeal after failing.

it's a shame, I prefer using pencil too (although obviously I understand why the rules are as they are). I'm left handed, so writing quickly in pen usually results in me smudging the words I've just written, I don't have that problem with pencil.

    Maybe I need a finer pen, hmm . . .

General tip to all....if you have illegible writing, try key words in CAPITALS. It also helps you quickly review the key concepts you've already covered and can therefore stop repetition.
