Hi Folks

What sort of impact will missing out the occassional "the's" in your answers could have on your score for this subject. I seem to be missing "the" and ":" in my answers quite a few times..is that a problem?

Cheers

Jon

Look at the solutions from ActED. This tends to award 4 marks per question for grammar and spelling. They suggest you lose 2 marks for each significant error. So you are losing roughly 4 marks a paper if there is only one error per question.

I've nothing to say this is not the approach taken by examiners.

At least you know you have a problem. Get into the habit of re-reading your script and correcting these slips.

If 'and' is a problem, do you need it? Would 2 sentences be more effective? They do say it makes things easier to digest if sentences are short. However, be careful not to appear patronising.

It's OK to make these slips now, but try not to on the all important exam day. They should be easy marks to pick up if you become skilled at proof reading your own work.

I think if you end up on the borderline, it could mean FA rather than Pass.

Good luck,
