    Hi

    Part iii) of the question states that we need to calculate the average score per card across all the competitors .The solution provided calculates the average horizontally in the data provided. But as per my understanding, the average should be calculated vertically as that would mean adding the scores for all competitors for a particular card and not horizontally.
    Please clarify which approach is correct.

    The model solution is correct - but you have a point that the wording could be misinterpreted. The key is the upper level question, which says you need to do this for seniors only, juniors only and also for all competitors - in that context, doing it per competitor, rather than per card, makes more sense.

    Also, the other two stats - highest & lowest individual average scores - are more easily taken as individual=competitor, rather than individual=card.
