Amazing disconnect with CA3

    In unit 16, page 8 of the core reading there is an example about writing a letter to a dc pension scheme member giving benefit projections. Part of the model solution on points to be covered in the letter includes:

    "The pension conversion terms cannot be known with any certainty ... will depend largely on the investment return ... on a matching asset class ... The bonds maybe fixed interest or index linked..."

    Plenty of technical jargon there for the poor layman scheme member!

    Totally agree that communications paper is on mars and the rest of the subjects on earth in these exams...

    Would assume though that in the CA1 paper you will get 10-15% max of the marks allocation for drafting (i.e. it needs to look and read like a letter) - the rest will be on actual content. CA3 will have less technical content and more focus on the drafting.

    Yes, I totally agree. CA1 - most of the marks will be for the technical points. The drafting style marks would be for things like clear layout, put most important points first, headings, not big waffly paragraphs, concise ideas.
