Actuaries in data science

Hi all,

Hope you are all good. I am a nearing my actuarial qualification from India. I have a question regarding actuaries in data science and analytics? What is the current position of actuaries in this domain in the UK? Do actuaries get employed in data science role ,or they are offered only traditional actuarial roles by insurance/ Reinsurance companies?
 
The position is, in a nutshell: most people who work outside insurance / pensions aren’t very aware of actuaries.

People who are qualified or part-qualified actuaries certainly go on and do non-traditional actuarial roles though, both inside and outside insurance. Hopefully that answers your second question.
