i know that Dx, Cx, Nx, Mx are classfied as commulation function.

Are ax, Ax, Px classfied as commulation function as well?

Think so.

If you work in pensions, you'll hear the term commutation factor for converting pension to lump sum and vice versa. Basically a variant on ax involving escalation in payment, mortality etc.

But don't get hung up on terminology. The important thing is knowing how to use them and possibly generate them from Ns Ds etc - although get familar with whats already tabulated and the interrelationships.... some are given in the actuarial formula book.

Enjoy getting tp grips with the basics of actuarial science!

Only the Nx, Dx, Mx etc are commutation functions - the annuities and assurances are results of applying them.
