    Hi all,
    Think I'm missing something here.
The sample solution seems to assume the probability of exiting life N at period x is Q times probability of exiting life N-1 the previous period.
Which is true if we have the same mortality for all lives.
However we are give the scenario of changing mortality in each life so then we need to calculate all combinations of life N-1 finishing before x as the forces of mortality will be different.

Has the solution over simplified the problem?

    Edit:
Ok I think I got it now :)
Lesson I think it careful reading of the instructions is needed to ensure the model is structured appropriately
(and not over complicated or over simplified)
