hi, anyone read this book before?
Is the book helpful?

If it is not very helpful, could you please suggest other material for me (apart from coursenote)?

I would just stick with the notes. Isn't that enough to read!? :p

I have not read the book you mention, but I think you would find it very difficult to find one book that covers many of the wide range of topics covered in CA1.

My advice would be to stick to the notes (which are already a lot to read) and then try to find a book (or many books) for the specific area you need help with.

will you recommend me to buy any other material apart from coursenote?

I used Modern Actuarial Theory and Practice by Booth et al. This was kind of intended as a textbook for CA1, but is also useful for the ST's - it goes a fair way beyond what you need for CA1.

The most important thing is to go through as many past papers as you can - I'd recommend both ASET and the examiners' reports. I'd also strongly recommend the tutorials, and not bothering with the assignments - spend the time on past papers instead.
