I've been emailing the Institute about this CP3 exam and asked about this re-review of some scripts. What seems to have happened is that they had only reviewed scripts based on the original pass mark of 60. For example, if a script got a 57 and a 59 it averaged below 60 and neither examiner thought it was a pass - it didn't get reviewed. They then adjusted the pass mark to 58. If the pass mark was 58 from the start, scripts like these would have been reviewed. Whether the correct move or not, they then decided that all the scripts that fell into this category should be reviewed and decided not to communicate this with anyone. They did not consider any scripts that had already been reviewed when re-reviewing these scripts. They have not explained why it is acceptable for a profession with such high standards can vastly give different marks for objective facts on the published mark scheme. The cynical part of me believes this is why they removed the marks that were awarded for word count.
A separate mini-ASET with just the April 2019 exam paper will be available in August. We will send an email to CP3 students when it is available.
