Rounding..

Just wondering if there are any rule of thumbs to rounding the final answers in the CT papers? Is it true you true you get penalised for improper rounding?

In general, I round currency answers to 2.dp. But with arbitrary units, I generally round them based on inspection. However the examiners rounding doesn't always match mine.

Thanks.

To be on the safe side, keep the values that you calculate while reaching the solution to 4 to 5 decimal places and keep the final answer to, say, 3 decimal places.

Keep in mind to maintain uniformity throughout a question and mention the level of rounding off in the final answer

Thanks Aditya. Useful information.

It's not decimal places that's important but significant figures. Probability and interest rates must be at least 3 SF. Money 5 SF.
