Given that the first 6 parts are supposed to test understanding, I don't understand why we asked to know the features of German economy while these are not discussed in the notes.

Or is this an indication that we should know the features of the Eurozone and UK economies?

I section 2 of Chapter 1, the core reading simply states that students should be reading the country reports on various large economies - Germany is listed as an example. There used to be a lot more detail in the core reading but it has been summarised into this section which simply refers you to outside sources. The exam will expect you to be aware of the current economic climate in major countries and to be reading the economic reports in the lead up to the exam. This is particularly the case if things have been happening with respect to Euro QE, German and Euro are growth problems, deficit discussions and bail-out conditions, ... With this in mind, the Q&A throws in a few questions on these economies at a high level.
