Pass Marks

Does anyone know an approximate pass mark figure for ST5?

I heard it on the grapevine from one of the acted tutors that they are changing the format of the marking for this sitting, in preparation for releasing pass marks.

In the past, every correct point you made would typically get you a half mark, and the pass mark was around 50-60%.

But what they have been talking about is changing it so that the most important points get you 1 or 1.5 marks each, then the lesser points get you a half mark. This means candidates who get the main ideas in each question will score higher, and they can raise the pass mark to perhaps 70%.

This means that if they decide to publish the pass marks after the results, it will look a lot better (much better to have a pass mark of 70% than 50% for the credibility of the profession).

However, this is all just what I've heard, might not be fact!

That's really interesting, thank you for your reply. Can anyone else confirm whether this is something they are aware or - in particular one of the tutors? And is this something that's true for all exams?

Many thanks
