On the derivation from first principles the last term in the Chapman Kolmogorov Equation is tpx24*hpx+t44
As 44 is an absorbing state this latter term becomes 1.
So my understanding would be it becomes tpx24*1
However in the solutions it becomes tpx24*1-tpx24 hence they cancel out
Would it be possible to explain why this is the case?

Hi Fiorentinaa

You are correct, it should just become tpx^24 as you say. As far as I can tell, that's what's in the solutions. Would you be able to type out the equation you're referring to in more detail?

Thanks

Andy
