I'm considering moving from Personal Lines to Commercial Lines, and wanted to hear people's thoughts on the differences between the two. One of the biggest differences I know is the amount of data you have at your disposal, but I've heard it is improving in CL. For those of you who have made a similar move, how did you find it, and would you recommend it?

    Thanks,

    Steve

I don’t work in pricing but general impression I get from those that do is commercial lines, ie London Market, is more exciting to work in. It’s also better paid according to this link: (https://rpubs.com/Michael_Stefan/652679 ).

CL is more relationship based and lots of underwriter interaction on the pricing side.

There’s less data so you’re unlikely to bump into really fancy models like machine learning stuff and what have you. It can still be very technical though, there’s a variety of technical and non-technical roles out there.
