Netting and offsetting of derivative contracts under US GAAP/IFRS

    Hello

    Could you please help me to understand the meaning of 'netting and offsetting of derivative contracts' under US GAAP and IFRS ?
    (Reference - page 20 last para of Ch17 profit reporting...)

    Isn't this just referring to the fact that a company can take their aggregate position with respect to their short and long positions in derivatives...
