Q: Has the syllabus and reading for the CT7 exam changed over the years?
Yes!
The 2016 Business Economics exams are based on the 6th edition of the ‘Economics for Business’ textbook
The 2011, 2012 and 2013 Business Economics exams were based on the 5th Edition of the ‘Economics for Business’ textbook.
The 2010 Business Economics exams were based on the 4th Edition of the ‘Economics for Business’ textbook. Business Economics was examined for the first time in April 2010. Before 2010, the course contained less business-related material and was based on Core Reading produced by the Actuarial Profession.
Q: Which past paper questions are relevant to the current CT7 syllabus and reading?
The exam papers from 2010 onwards offer excellent question practice for the 2016 exams.
The syllabus changed substantially for the 2010 exams, so many of the questions on the past papers before April 2010 are no longer relevant. In some cases, the questions are still relevant but the solutions have changed!
In our Revision Notes, we have "saved" as many questions as possible from the past papers by adapting both the questions and solutions where necessary and appropriate to make them compatible with the current syllabus.
If you don’t have Revision Notes, the following questions and solutions from pre-2010 past papers (available on the profession's website) are still appropriate:
April 06: Q1-15,18,22,23,25,27,28(c)(d),29,30
Sept 06: Q1,3-5,7-12,14,16,20,22,25-31,35,36(i)(iv)
April 07: Q3-11,16,17,19-21,24,27,28(i)(ii)(iii),29,32,36
Sept 07: Q1-3,7-9,12-14,16,17,19,22,26-29,35
April 08: Q3-8,10-13,16,17,23,24,28,29,31,33
Sept 08: Q2,3,5,7-9,11,12,15,16,23-26,29,31,35
April 09: Q1,2,4,6-15,20,23,24,29(iii),30,31,33,34
Sept 09: Q1-10,12,16,19,24-30,32(i)(ii)
Remember that all the questions in the Q&A Bank, in the X assignments and in the CT7 Mock Exams are relevant to the new syllabus.
