Within the answer of this q, it gives us the final formula to work out. We are making an allowance for the fact the quarterly instalments increase by £400 after every 4 years. So therefore R+400 for the 2nd 4 years and R+800 for the last 4 years. In the final stage of the equation we remove R to give us 34.042584 but I am unsure how the allowance for the extra 400 and 800 has been included to give us the final part. Hi Niamh The solution takes out R as the factor and then multiplies it by the sum of all the factors applied to R in the previous line: ie, a:<16> +v^16*a:<16>+v^32*a:<16> So if you add all the above, then you get 34.042584.
