SA5 October 2007 Q1iv)

Made first post
Hi,

I am currently looking at Q1iv) in the SA5 October 2007 paper. In the solutions it mentions that "EU Market Abuse Directive seeks to prevent use of inside information which includes “precise, non-public information likely to have an effect on the price of a security”. Do we need to specifically know about the EU Market Abuse Directive, as it looks like we did to answer this question

No - there used to be a big section in SA5 that contained loads of stuff on the EU directives, and it used to be examined in quite a UK-specific or EU-specific manner. But that material is now gone, and the exams avoid too much country-specific knowledge. So the high level ideas on regulation might be interesting, but a question such as that would be changed to a more generic test if it were asked in SA7.
