I’m not sure how they got the last 2 equations. From (Ep-Eb)/(Ea-Eb) * sigmaA + (Ea-Ep)/(Ea-Eb)* sigmaB To (sigmaA-sigmaB)/(Ea-Eb) *Ep + (sigmaB*Ea-sigmaA*Eb)/(Ea-Eb) Can someone help?
From your first expression, collect all of the Ep terms: (Ep-Eb)/(Ea-Eb) * sigmaA + (Ea-Ep)/(Ea-Eb)* sigmaB. This will give you the first half of the answer (sigmaA-sigmaB)/(Ea-Eb) *Ep. The second half comes from the non-Ep terms. Hope that helps.
Oh I see, I was so fixated on getting the first part to equal the first part of the answer I didn’t even see the 2 denominators being the same! Thank you
