I think this will depend if you are talking about a policy or a book of business. If a policy has matured, it has run off and no longer in the long term business fund. Whereas if you are talking about a book of business then it may be that this is referring to the fact that the business is closed to new business and so the inforce remaining is running off the balance sheet.
