    hi there!

would like to consult, for a report, if an executive summary would be appropriate, does it still need an introduction section between the executive summary and the main body of the report? in addition, regarding the ending part, if there is an executive summary already, does it mean no need for any ending paragraph? seemingly a little bit cop-out, isn't it?

    thanks!

    Hi Smith,
An executive summary would generally include what your report is trying to communicate and key ideas in the balance of the report. So, you don't need to include an introduction between the executive summary and the main body. And you are right, if there is already an executive summary, there is no need to have a conclusion section. Be very careful not to mix the format between a report with and without an executive summary.

    Hi
I would expect the executive summary to set out sufficient background of what the report is about (ie material we would normally include in an introduction) as well as give the answer/recommendation. As mentioned above there would be no concluding section at the end. If you have the CMP it is worth having a look at the X1 Solution so you can see how the executive summary covers both what the report is about and the 'answer'.
