Exam timetable overlaps

    Why are there so many overlaps in the IFoA exam timetable - making it impossible to sit certain combinations of exams within the same sitting? I would have thought the exams could've easily been spaced out, especially since the move to the online format.

    There's more exams now the early exams have paper A and paper B.

    The only clashes are between very earlier exams (eg CS1) and very late exams (eg SP) which would only be an issue if you got early exam exemptions and so start later in the exam process but failed some at Uni and didn't get an exemption.

    Any one else shouldn't encounter this problem unless they are repeatedly failing an early exam.

    Regardless of the whys, there should be no clashes of exams, if you look at the Sept timetable, there are no exams on the 16th or 21st September, why have these days free?

    In the past, there was a morning session, and afternoon - now there is only a morning - that seems bizarre, given that it's all online now, there are reduced costs - which has been seen in the accounts.

    In the upcoming sitting, SP1, 5 and 7 are on at the exact same time, as are SP2, SP4, SP6 and SP8 and SP9. There is a similar combination for the April 2022 exams.
    Granted, they are an unusual combination of exams but anyone wanting to do them together cannot do so.
    This was not the case in pre-covid in person exams (except for SA1-6, but only one is needed).
    You might have had two exams on the same day or very close to each other but exams never overlapped the same time slot before.
    I cannot understand why they are merging exam sittings like that, surely there would be less pressure on the exam platform if the load were spread out over more days....?
