Marking scheme mark allocations

Discussion in 'CP3' started by actuarial_trainee_100, Dec 28, 2020.

  1. Hi,

I was looking at the past few marking schemes and they seem to have a similar breakdown of marks for each item (e.g. 3 for document format, 12 for planning and presentation, 7 for overall language etc). Could the IFoA change these mark allocations materially for the April 2021 sitting or will they be the same? Would they have to give us prior warning if they did change these mark allocation materially?

    Thanks!

There was one sitting where the mark allocation was changed days before a sitting, removing the word count marks and reallocating elsewhere. They did tell students though.

I would expect there to be very little / no change to the marks allocation, certainly not in a way that would affect chances of passing. As mavvj mentions there was a change removing the explicit marks for word count and reallocating them but the main structure of the marking schedule has remained relatively constant over time.

  4. Thanks for the reply! Hopefully, the IFoA would tell us if a similar event were to occur again.

  5. Thanks Helen! That is reassuring to know!
