Hi all. I have sat for SP1 exam earlier this month and while waiting for the results, I can't decide whether to proceed with CP1 or SP1 (or any other SPs). I think I should really start my study plan as soon as possible especially if I'm taking CP1 but I do not know my results which makes planning difficult.. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
I took the exams in a “non standard” order and because the exam system changed I have lost exams which I have passed and do not even have the associate qualification.
Hi, I am in a similar situation. I have appeared for all of the CT papers and am unsure of how to proceed further. Should I go with CP1 or one of the SP papers? I understand CP1 is extremely long and tedious to go through so should I leave that till the end and go through the Specialist papers first or should I go in order? Thanks, Shiksha
Heck, many who did take their exams in the standard order have, say, CT6 without CT4 (or vice versa) and get to do the whole CS2 including the R paper (which is mostly based on CT6). No exams were lost according to the IFoA though because they still appear in your exam history, even if you must still sit the new subjects as a whole. You'll need to complete CP1 anyway so you may wish to take it first. Also if left to the end you get to complete one additional year of PPD if you wish to go from Associate to Fellow.
You could do cp1 in case your not sure which area to specialise in. But be ready to do a lot of studying. Ensure you get ASET and Revision Notes
That's probably the IFoA's definition of "nobody will be disadvantaged", remember? Doesn't matter how much logic that definition actually carries, even though nearly all affected students can't use those specific exams in any useful way.
Sorry ok so that’s not your view but what you would expect the IFOA to say. I will be issuing my claim to the IFOA about lost exam passes very soon. If anyone one would like more details please contact me.
I personally did my first ST before CP1, but that was mainly because I wanted to save CP1 for the longer April exam sitting. One issue with this is that the ST's assume some knowledge from CP1, so it's possible you get a part of a question you won't know purely from studying for the ST. The flipside is that it makes CP1 less onerous, because you'll have already covered some of the material in greater depth in the ST.
