    Hi there,

What are your thoughts on the proposed changes to the CA1 exam?

Does it make it easier / harder? Which aspects would see significant changes?

    Cheers.

An interesting question! It is early days in terms of the detail. As I understand it the aim is that the exam will be no more or less challenging than CA1. A copy of the syllabus is on the Profession's website: https://www.actuaries.org.uk/search/site/syllabus 2019

Note that project management and capital project appraisal material is no longer covered in the CP1 syllabus objectives, but material on mortality and morbidity is added.

More detail will no doubt appear over time!

    Thanks Helen, appreciate your comments.
No doubt that the aim of the changes is not to reduce/increase the difficulty level, but surely the changes could play into one person's strengths and another person's weaknesses.

Interesting to note the changes in the syllabus objectives. Is that the full extent of available information about the changes?

Hi - yes, this is the only information that is available currently. You will find that it covers not just the changes to the syllabus objectives but the proposed change in style of assessment.
