Test statistics

    Hi

    The course notes mention alternative test statistics for two sample poisson and two sample binomial tests (without pooled sample mean/proportion).

    Will we be penalised in the exam if we use the alternatives? I find them easier to remember as they are the same formula used for confidence intervals.

    Hi

    I am not sure what alternate formulas you are talking about.

    Can you state that alternate form (say) for the Poisson distribution?

    Alas the exam tests the Core Reading - so they will be wanting the pooled estimator formulae.

    However, in real life you may use a variety....
