I'm entering my 25th question paper and I'm really struggling with getting the answers to the quality of exam solutions in terms of both breadth and depth. I'm not sure where I'm going wrong - I've read the chapters several times over and practiced several papers and it's not adding to confidence really. I'm only able to reach about 50% of the solution efficiency - while able to usually get the general direction of the answer - I'm no where near the content level expected.

With about 100 days still to go, is this a common thing - or do I really need to step up preparation now and take a different path?

The solution is often more detailed than required for the exam

If you can get 50-75% of the points then your on the right lines

Yes, that's par for the course!

OP remember the solutions often have more points than you can come up with because is a marking schedule and obviously lots of students will come up with a range of points.

Glad to have helped :)
