e-Store Ordering - Logging in

I'm asked to log in with my ActEd student ref, but I'm a new student and don't know my student reference number

When you make your first order, you will not have a student ref (we allocate a student reference to you after you make your first order). On the "Log in to retrieve details" screen, click the "Enter details" button and fill in the relevant fields to continue.

I have tried to log in but the online store cannot find my details

The online store holds details for active students. If you have not ordered in a while then the details will not be on file. On the "Log in to retrieve details" screen, click the "Enter details" button and fill in the relevant fields to continue.

e-Store Ordering - Item prices, Discounts, Repeat purchases

How do I view the prices of items in my basket?

Some of the item prices depend on the country from which you order. Our online store cannot always show accurate prices in the basket screen because the country is not usually known at that stage. It shows prices in the checkout summary screen instead — after you have logged in and have provided country details.

How can I order products at reduced rates?

If your current rate of income is less than £10,000 per annum and you pay for your tuition yourself, and you cannot claim the cost back from your employer, then you are eligible for reduced rates with ActEd. In the shopping cart screen click the checkbox to claim reduced rates and our online store will automatically apply the correct discounts to your order.

I have had the material before, am I entitled to a discount?
Most products can be ordered on the online store at the repeat purchase rate if you have purchased them before in the same subject and you originally paid the full price. You will need to tick the repeat purchase box once you are in the shopping cart.

eBooks can be purchased at the repeat purchase rate or as an additional copy if purchased before (Paper or eBook). Please see our student brochure or discounts page for more details.

A discretionary discount may be applied on Revision Materials, if previously purchased before in the same subject. Please email ActEd@bpp.com for more details.

e-Store Ordering – Credit Card Payments, Invoices

I tried to pay for my order using a credit card, but can't get to the payment screen
Sometimes your company's firewall may interfere with the payment process. This is not something that ActEd can control. However, you should normally have no problem making and paying for your order using your home internet connection.
If you are experiencing problems at work, but wish to pay by credit card, then you may request an invoice, and call us on +44 1235 550005 to pay using your credit card.

I paid for my order using a credit card, but have not received an email confirmation
Normally you should get email confirmation within one hour of completing the order. If you don't receive an email confirmation, please check your "Junk E-mail" or equivalent mailbox, in case your mail software has mistakenly treated the message as unwanted mail.
Although you should get email confirmation within one hour, messages can sometimes be delayed because of mail server problems. If you do not receive the email confirmation within two hours please contact ActEd and we will check to make sure we have received your order.

When will I receive my invoice?
Invoices for study material will usually be emailed to you within 2 to 3 days of your order being processed unless your company has alterative arrangements.

Invoices for tutorials are emailed within 2-3 days if the course has already been finalised. If your tutorial hasn’t been finalised then the invoice will be sent around 10 days after finalisation.

e-Store Ordering – Mocks, Assignments, Sharing Materials, Ordering for others

Can I pass my material onto a friend or share them with a colleague?
No. Material is copyright and sold for your own exclusive use.

Can I order on behalf of another student?
Yes. You must use the details of the student that the material is being ordered for. You can however pay using your own credit card.

e-Store Ordering - Shipping

I have made an order, when will I receive my material?
In most cases study material arrives within 5-10 working days of ordering, assuming the relevant availability date has passed. However, delivery may take slightly longer during the 2-3 weeks after each set of exams and exam results. Items sent overseas may take considerably longer, so we recommend that you order as early as possible and/or order eBooks rather than paper copies.

How will my material be sent?
Study materials are sent directly from our printers by courier and delivery will require a signature.

eBooks

When and how will I receive my eBook token or code?
Once your order has been received and processed, you will be sent 2 emails. The first one details what we have ordered for you and the second one will contain your unique eBook 'token' or 'code'. These are generally sent 1-2 working days after you place your order.

Does the eBook come in PDF format?
No. eBooks can only be accessed through the VitalSource Bookshelf software using your unique token or code. Bookshelf is available via a web browser, or can be installed on desktop computer (PC and Mac), or installed on smartphone from Google Play or Apple app stores. You will be required to create an account before activating the token or code.

Can I print the eBook?
Yes, with limitations.

  • You may print up to 100% of pages from Bookshelf.
  • There is a restriction in Bookshelf that limits the number of pages that can be printed each day.
Before you print, please ensure that:
  • a working printer is connected to your computer and
  • there is ample paper and toner in the printer
Failing to make these checks may result in a print failure and the software may not allow you to reprint again. You will lose your right to print a copy. Print gradually. Do not send the entire eBook to the printer in one job. Once you have used your print allowance, printing will not be possible and you will need to purchase a hard copy from ActEd. Please see our eBooks page for further information.

I have more questions about eBooks. Is there further information?
The Bookshelf instructions sheet provides more details about how to access your ActEd eBooks using Bookshelf.

Face-To-Face Tuition - Ordering

I would like to do both a Regular/Block tutorial and a Paper B Preparation Day. I can only select the Preparation Day as a 2nd/3rd choice. How can I add both tutorials to my shopping cart?
You need to select one tutorial first (with second and third choices if you wish), add it to your shopping cart and then go back and select the other tutorial and add this to your shopping cart. We will then book you onto both tutorials.

Can I book onto a tutorial which is showing as full?
Yes, you may still apply for a course that is full to express your preference. You can then also select a 2nd and 3rd choice. If all of your chosen tutorials are full, your name will be added to the waiting list for your first choice course. You may get a place on your first choice tutorial if a space becomes available, eg if a student cancels.

Please let us know if you wish to be removed from a waiting list. Otherwise, cancellation charges will apply if you are subsequently allocated a place on that tutorial and you cancel after the finalisation date.

We will endeavour to add extra groups at finalisation for students still on a waiting list at that time. This will depend on the number of students waiting and the resources available.

Finalisation information
ActEd will usually run all advertised courses where we have received a sufficient number of applications in writing by the finalisation date (this is normally around 8 applications but depends on demand for other courses). We will allocate places on a first-come first-served basis and we will run additional groups whenever possible when tutorial groups are oversubscribed.

Face-To-Face Tuition - Cancellations

I can't attend one day of my tutorial, can I attend one day of another course?
Yes, we allow one "swap" per course but this is subject to space being available on the course you wish to attend. Please contact us for more details. If you are asking to swap into a course that has not been finalised then your request will be held in a file to look at when the course has been confirmed.

Can I cancel my place on a tutorial?
Please read our page about cancellations and refunds for help.

Can I cancel my place on a tutorial if I did not get the results I expected in an exam?
The same cancellation policy applies as it does for cancelling a place normally (see above).

Live Online Tutorials & Online Classroom

What is the difference between a Live Online Tutorial and an Online Classroom?
Live Online Tutorials cover the same content as a face-to-face tutorial but they are delivered synchronously, ie live. This means you can interact with the tutor.

The Online Classroom is an asynchronous product, ie the tutorials are delivered online but are pre-recorded. The Online Classroom aims to replicate as closely as possible the experience you would face on a typical face-to-face tutorial, covering the majority of the course.

When will I receive access to my Online Classroom?
Online Classrooms are usually made available in November (for the April exams) and May (for the September/October) exams. Once they have been released, access will usually be given within 2 working days of your order.

Assignment Marking

Can I cancel any unused Marking Vouchers?
Click read the marking voucher section of our refund policy page.

Can I study CA1 over 2 sessions?

I have last year’s assignments, can I submit these?
No, we only accept the most up to date assignments. If you are now ordering marking, we can send the current Assignments to you free of charge. You can either make a note on the estore or just send us an email.

I have last year’s Mock A, can I submit this?
No. If you are looking to submit a mock for marking, we only accept the most up-to-date version.

If you choose to order marking, we can send you the most up-to-date mock free of charge. If you are not planning on submitting your mock for marking, but still wish to order the latest version, we can offer you a discounted rate of 50% of the cost.
