2010 Examinations, Useful Information
The new syllabuses for the 2010
exams are available on the Profession's
website.
Please find below some more information
about subjects where significant changes are occurring.
Where possible, we aim to produce a "CMP
Upgrade" that allows you to update your course
materials from one year to the next without the need
to purchase the course again. However, in some subjects
the number of changes makes an upgrade impractical.
Retakers who have previously paid full-price for a
CMP are eligible to purchase a new CMP the following
year at a significant
discount.
Subject CT7
The Core Reading for CT7
is being replaced by references to an economics text
book: Economics for Business, Sloman and Hinde,
4th edition, Prentice Hall.
We will include the text book as
part of the CMP, which will also include supplementary
notes, a Q&A Bank and X Assignments, as usual.
The individual components and the text book can be
purchased separately.
There will not be a CMP Upgrade,
but discounts
will be available for previous purchasers of a CT7
CMP. The retaker CMP or Retaker Course Notes do NOT
include the text book.
We are unlikely to release any revision
material, eg Flashcards or Revision Notes, until February.
Subject CA3
As previously announced by the Profession,
the CA3 exam is currently being replaced by a 2-day
course/assessment. The two assessment methods are
being run in parallel in 2009, but the exam is (probably)
being withdrawn in 2010. Visit the Profession's
website for more information.
Specific Course Notes and X Assignments
have been released for students preparing for the
2-day assessment. Please click
here for more information. We hope to broaden
this product range next year.
Subjects ST3, ST7, ST8
Subject ST3 is disappearing. Two
new general insurance subjects are being created,
ST7 General Insurance Reserving and Capital Modelling
and ST8 General Insurance Pricing.
Upgrades will not be available but
students who have previously purchased ST3 will be
entitled to a retaker discount when buying one of
ST7 or ST8.
We are unlikely to release any revision
materials in the session leading to the April 2010
exams.
Subject ST9
This is a new subject on Enterprise
Risk Management. Most of the Core Reading is taken
from three text books:
- Chapman: Simple tools & techniques
for enterprise risk management
- Lam: Enterprise Risk Management
From Incentives to Controls
- McNeil, Frey & Embrechts:
Quantitative Risk Management
We will include these books
as part of the CMP, which will also include supplementary
notes, a Q&A Bank and
X Assignments.
We are unlikely to release any revision
materials in the session leading to the April 2010
exams.
Subject SA3
There will be lots of changes to
this course with plenty of new material. Therefore,
we will not be issuing a CMP Upgrade.
Students will also be required
to be familiar with the new material in Subjects ST7
and ST8. Students ordering the Subject SA3 Core Reading
directly from the Profession may also order
the Core Reading for Subjects ST7 and ST8 free of
charge. We will also be giving some discounts on ActEd
material although the details have yet to be finalised.
