Marking Service

You have a choice of posting, faxing or emailing your scripts to us. If posting your script to us in the UK, please allow sufficient time for this to reach us in time for the respective assignment deadline.

Submission of scripts

If you wish to post your script, please mail it to:

Again, this is for scripts only.

In order to make the system work successfully please:

• Write legibly in black ink using a reasonably sized nib (we do not accept typed assignments). Please ensure that your script is legible because we have been unable to mark some scripts.
• Leave at least 2cm margin on all borders.
• Number all the pages of your script (excluding the cover sheet) and write the total number of pages which your script contains on the assignment cover sheet. Please do not include the cover sheet itself in this count.
• Write your email address clearly at the top of your cover sheet, if you wish to receive an acknowledgement of receipt.

If faxing:

• Fax the assignment cover sheet as the first sheet.
• Use the "fine resolution" option on your fax machine if there is one.
• Check that all pages have been sent successfully.

If emailing:

• Set your scanning resolution to either 150 dots per inch (dpi) or 200 (dpi). Use the lower resolution of 150 dpi if the resultant file exceeds 4MB.
• For image type, select black and white.
• For image format, use the compressed option - such as .tiff file (there is usually a '.tiff compressed' option, or something similarly named, when you try to save the file) or PDF.
• File format: multi-page - we cannot accept individual files for each page. All scanned assignments must be submitted in a single file.
• Ensure your file size does not exceed 4 MB.
• Check that your scanned assignment includes all pages and is of a sufficiently legible quality before emailing to ActEd.

Please do not...

• Re-send or post the same script unless you believe that the first attempt has wholly or partially failed. If you do have to re-send, please do indicate clearly on the cover sheet that you are doing so.

Return of scripts

We will return your marked script to you as a scanned document by email in the first instance. We then also post the hard copy to you to the address that you have completed on your assignment front sheet. Please note that if the address section is not filled in fully and correctly on your front sheet, your hard copy may not reach you.

From past experience the quality of the scanned document is very good. However, if you experience any difficulties in reading your script please contact us by email or by telephone on +44 1235 550005.

If you have chosen not to receive the solutions in advance then the solutions will be posted to you when we have marked your script.
